Polytcase® : our polycarbonate flight-cases
Ultra-lightweight flight-case
Polytcase® is made of 9 mm polycarbonate honeycomb panels instead of 10 mm combi-film plywood.
Polycarbonate panels are glued into double interlocking aluminium angles. Traditional plywood products are usually simply stapled or nailed. Glued corners are both more aesthetically pleasing and break up the transmission of shock waves.
Polytcases® are also much lighter than traditional crates, as the polycarbonate honeycomb of which they are made is 3 times lighter than combi-film. This means substantial savings on transport, particularly by plane.
Flight-cases adapted to the safety and transport requirements of the trade:
- Density: polycarbonate: 2.1 kg/m2 (9 mm plywood: 6 kg/m2).
- Surface: slightly wavy, black, semi-gloss.
- Wall: honeycomb interior, semi-rigid to absorb shocks and deformations.
Fire classification : M1
Made from recycled and recyclable plastic, all the materials are fire-retardant, including M1 fire-rated polycarbonate. The crates can therefore be used in sensitive locations where fire protection may be required.
Recyclability
Alveolar polycarbonate is basically a recyclable material. Our version of polycarbonate, extruded in black through the mass, is itself derived from the recycling of standard polycarbonate (no longer transparent enough to be reused).
Resistance
The strength of the polycarbonate was tested by dropping a metal log 1 metre long and 30 mm in diameter from a height of 1.20 metres onto a panel placed between two supports.
The results obtained were compared with other materials using the same tests :
- 10 mm film-coated plywood panel : broken.
- Multi-layer fibreglass panel : perforated.
- 9 mm polycarbonate honeycomb panel : outer wall marked, inner wall intact.
Made-to-measure options
Colors
Polytcases® are made-to-measure to your specifications : dimensions, opening direction, number of handles, wheels (under the case or in the corners), etc.
In addition, all interior fittings are also possible: partitions, specific foam wedges, etc.
To personalise your crates (to make them more recognisable, similar to your company’s graphic charter, etc.), we can apply a coloured adhesive film to them during manufacture.
A wide range of finishes are available : imitation wood, stone, leather, etc.
