Are flight-cases suitable for air transport?
Yes, flight-cases are perfectly suited to air transport. Designed to protect fragile equipment, they offer resistance to the shocks, vibrations and temperature variations encountered during air travel.
Our Polytcases® (polycarbonate flight-cases) are a big advantage, as their materials are three times lighter, helping to reduce air freight costs.
Depending on your needs, you can opt for models that comply with airline standards, with dimensions adapted to cargo holds or cabins. Some flight-cases can also be fitted with handles and/or wheels to make them easier to move around airports.

Are flight-cases recyclable or environmentally friendly?
Our flight-cases are designed with eco-responsibility in mind, to minimize our environmental impact. We use materials with a low ecological footprint throughout our production cycle.
In fact, 75% of the materials used in the design of our polycarbonate flight-cases are recycled or recyclable, and 60% of materials can actually be recycled after processing. We also give preference to regional suppliers, close to our production center, in order to reduce the carbon footprint linked to transport (short circuit).
What’s more, the low weight of our Polytcase® flight-cases helps reduce CO₂ emissions during transport, by cutting fuel consumption. In this way, our products combine robustness, durability and respect for the environment.

What's the difference between a standard flight case and a rack-mounted flight-case?
The main difference between a standard flight-case and a rackable flight-case lies in their dimensions and design.
A standard flight-case is a box with predefined dimensions, generally 120x80x60 cm. It is designed for transporting and storing equipment without the need for specific internal fixings.
A rackable flight-case, on the other hand, is specially designed to accommodate equipment with standardized rack-type dimensions, with a width of 49.2 cm. It features a side opening for easy access and installation of equipment, often used in the sound, video or IT sectors.

What are the size standards for flight-cases?
Flight-cases are available in a variety of sizes and can even be customized, but certain standards exist to ensure compatibility with different equipment. One of the main formats is based on a standard width of 19 inches (49.2 cm), commonly used for electronic and audiovisual equipment. This standard accommodates a wide range of devices, while guaranteeing optimum fixing and protection.
However, depending on specific requirements, it is possible to opt for made-to-measure dimensions to adapt the flight-case perfectly to the equipment being transported.

What is the average price of a custom-made flight-case?
The price of a made-to-measure flight-case depends mainly on its dimensions and complexity. A standard flight-case (120x80x60 cm) costs around 550 euros, but this may vary according to the materials used, added reinforcements and customization options. The larger the flight-case, or the more specific the compartments, the higher the price. Models with additional equipment, such as protective foams, customized partitions or reinforced wheels, can also cost more. So, the final cost is variable and is estimated according to the customer’s needs.

What is the maximum load a flight-case can support?
The maximum load a flight-case can support depends on several criteria, such as its size, the thickness of its floor and the reinforcements underneath. The thicker these elements, the higher the load capacity. If heavier loads are to be transported, specific reinforcements can be added. The choice of materials is also crucial to the strength of the flight case. It is therefore essential to adapt the design according to requirements to guarantee safety and durability.
In addition, the number of castors or rafters (wooden or aluminum) influences the weight capacity. For example, a standard flight-case (120x80x60 cm) with four castors can support up to 550 kg. With the addition of maximum reinforcements, its capacity can reach 1,200 kg. Customized design enables load capacity to be adjusted to meet specific customer requirements.

What is the average weight of a flight-case?
The average weight of a flight-case depends on its dimensions and the type of material used in its manufacture. For example, a standard polycarbonate flight-case (120x80x60 cm) weighs around 19 kg. On the other hand, a model made from combi-film, which offers enhanced protection, can weigh up to 36 kg. Weight also varies according to the interior cushioning, the presence of reinforcements and additional equipment. The more robust the flight-case and the heavier the load, the heavier it will be. So the weight of a flight case can vary, and it’s important to choose the right model for the job.

How customizable are JPemBall flight-cases?
JPemBall flight-cases offer a high degree of customization, designed entirely to your specific requirements. You can choose the dimensions, the opening direction, the number of handles and the arrangement of the castors (under the case or in the corners). The interior can be fitted with partitions, custom foam padding or other solutions to guarantee optimal organization of your equipment.
To further personalize your flight cases, we apply a colored adhesive film, in line with your company’s corporate identity or for visual identification. In addition, we offer a wide range of decorative finishes, such as imitation wood, leather or stone effect, to personalize the appearance of your cases.

What materials are used to make flight-cases?
JPemBall flight-cases are made of polycarbonate and/or combi-filmed. Polycarbonate Polytcases® are lightweight and impact-resistant, thanks to their 10 mm honeycomb panels set in double interlocking aluminum angles. This material, three times lighter than combi-film, reduces transport costs, especially for air shipments. It is also made from recycled materials, is recyclable and meets M1 fire-protection standards.
Robust and weather-resistant, combi-filmed flight-cases offer better protection against fungi and insects than wooden cases, ensuring greater durability. This material is also less susceptible to marks and scratches.
Last but not least, profiles reinforce the structure of the crate, guaranteeing enhanced strength. Aluminum accessories, such as handles, wheels and ergonomic closures, facilitate transport and make it an indispensable practical asset for professionals.

Are flight-cases watertight?
Flight-cases can be designed to be watertight as required. They offer good protection against rain and humidity, enabling outdoor use without risk to the material being transported. However, they are not guaranteed watertight in the event of total immersion, such as a fall into a lake or prolonged submersion. Their level of waterproofness therefore depends on conditions of use and exposure to water.
